Hello, My apologies. Nathaniel Nortons birthday was 1762 and Hannahs was 1780. I do not know Nathaniels parents at this time. The Revoluntionary Pensions file states his mother is living with him in 1829 but gives no name. I am working on some new business plans at the moment and have not gone further to check out this lead. Other surnames in this line are Simpson and Brooks. My ancestor is Nathaniels son Rueben born 22 May 1812. Nathaniels son Ivory married Hannah Sawyers neice, I read. This is my fathers, fathers side. On my fathers, mothers(Harbours) side we also married into the Sawyer familys, Fox, Small, Bryan(de Brienne), Bray, Richardson, Creighton, Haas, Witt, Cobb, Yeaton, Millard, Davis and Arrowsmith. Nathaniels DOB is 1 Aug 1872 born Sanford , York County, ME m.31 Mar 1796 Hannah Sawyer DOB 26 Apr 1780 of Wells ME. They married in Limington, York County, ME and lived there the whole time. They is information listed in several books: Early Families of Limington Maine by Robert L Taylor, Heritage Books pub. 1991 pages 245- 247, DAR Patriot Centennial Edition page 2163, Genealogical Abstracts of Rev War Pension Files Vol III: N-Z by Virgil D White page 2517 and more. The first book I mentioned has lots of info in it. It lists the children and who they married and even grandchildren and their marriages in some cases. It also has dates. I do not have all the answers about the de Norvilles or I wouldn't be posting on a query board. All the info I have is very confusing when trying to figure out the sons and fathers that settled in my ancestors area. The George, William, Henry and Thomas and also John and Walter are de Norville sons (Walter most probable in my line) that I have found in my search so far. Other early immigrants are Robert and Richard. They are listed in a Grant by the New England Council 2 Dec 1631. Walter (Lt Col.) and Henry are listed as going to York Cty Maine. Walter is written as the founder of York Me in the book, History of York, ME. The book Genealogical Guide to the Early Settlers of America by James Savage also has info on Nortons as does several sites on the web. The Vineyard Net has lots on Nortons but I cannot identify my line there yet even though the Abstract of Rev War Pension Files pg. 2517 states Nathaniel is of the MA line. Since Nathaniel was born late 1700s and the early immigrants came to first MA (as early as 1629 per the Savage book)and then to York County ME I am supposing for now that I am missing around 4 or five generations. I have several gen. charts from others of my line but cannot prove or disprove their info at this time. They have Walter as my ancestor and it does give me places to look when I am searching. The American Genealogist Vols 16, and 17 or 18 have articles from one who has traced the family. I have just found this info also and have not gotten it to check it out yet. Hope I have answered your questions. I am not the most organized person in the world but I try. Regards, Nancy Norton-Nix nncynix@aol.com
