Hello Folks, I'm new to this list; but have several ties to the NORTONs of Guilford, New Haven Co., CT. I'm seeking info about the subject people and their ancestors, with little info to offer. Their daughter, Emma Norton, b. 19 May 1874, came from Guildford, New Haven Co., CT. She is no doubt descended from the Nortons of Guilford. Her father, Philo Norton, lived in Madison, Conn. Her mother died quite young and Emma lived with relatives in Stony Creek near Branford, CT, where she grew up and m.Harry William Page in June 1897. My direct descent from a Norton was through the marriage about 1750 of Martha NORTON, b.c. 1732 in Guilford(?), to Ephraim PAGE. She was the daughter of Thomas NORTON, b. 1 Oct. 1704 in Guilford and his wife, Bethia UNK. He attended Yale A.B. degree 1723 and lived in Guilford, CT. [See Conn. Families Vol. II, p. 667.] Her brother was Elijah "Eli" Norton. Eli was on the 1787 Tax List of Old Coxsockie, NY but did not sign the Petition of March 18, 1792, Protesting the Validy of the Prevost and Seaton Patents. Coxsackie included what is now the towns of Durham, Greenville, New Baltimore, Athens, and Cairo, in Greene county, New York. I would appreciate any specific info about Martha's birth or marriage, or her parents.
