Leininger, of Los Angeles; and concerning his son, Richard Henry Norton, Jr. (1873-1953), a San Francisco area publisher of nine neighborhood newspapers and a printing company president, and concerning R. H. Norton, Jr.'s siblings. Norton, Sr., was born in Salford, near Manchester, England, on May 5, 1851. He died in Los Angeles, California, on January 25, 1921. He was a mining engineer by profession, working in Minnesota (1881-88), British Columbia (1888-89),and the Portland, OR, area (1896-97). From 1900 until 1921, he was politically active in the Los Angeles, CA, area, graduated from USC Law School in 1911 at the age of 60, and served as a Los Angeles County Supervisor from 1912 to 1917. Norton, Jr., was born on January 5, 1873 in England. He founded his first newspaper in San Francisco ca. 1915 and also served as president of Norton Printing Company until the early 1940s. He died in Southern California in 1953. Both Norton, Jr., and his father are believed to have had relatives who may have settled in Canada and the Tacoma and Seattle, WA, area.
