Looking for info on family of "Laurins" Norton, who lived in Palatine, Cook County IL in 1860. Laurins [Lauren or Loren?] was b. NY about 1797. Shown with wife, Mary B. born about 1809 CT; son Orange Norton, b. about 1841 Ohio; son Emery Norton born about 1842 OH; and dau. Melissa born about 1845 OH. MAY be the same man who married Betsey Maria BACON in Parkman, Geauga County OH in 1848. MAY** also be the same Lauren who was earlier married to Prudence Town in Spafford, Onondaga County NY...and migrated to Parkman, Geauga Co. OH. ANY** info or leads would be appreciated. But my own Nortons included John b. 1827 in NY, married Adelia Pratt b. 1837 in NY, moved to WI where Clellen, Albert, Charles and Frederick were born. They later moved to Cowley Co., KS. I have 3 extra Norton families living with our Norton families. David Norton Jr. and Henry Norton (his son are in Lehi) James Wiley and John Wesley are in the Great Salt lake 15th ward in SLC. James is living with Henry W.Norton and his family. This is not his brother Henry. This is Henry W. and Sarah Anne Norton. I have access to the city telephone directory for Santa Barbara & Montecito, Calfiornia for the years 1928 - 1948, they give the names of the residents, local business including ads. I noticed for married couples it gives the wife's name also. Will do look-ups for anyone interested. Does anyone claim Andrews Norton?? Apparently a professor, and poet. Taken from a little green book, published by Canton Press of Sherman & Co., Philadelphia. "To The Reader. This little volume embraces specimens from the works of the most popular American Poets, and is presented as a companion to the "Gems from the American Female Poets," issued by the publisher in 1842. Its small size prevented the editor from giving selections from a considerable number of authors whose writings are not less worthy of admiration than much which the book contains." Page 21: ANDREWS NORTON. Professor Norton is better known as a theological writer than as a poet, though the few poems he has published possess great merit. He was born in Hingham Mass. in 1786, and now resides in Cambridge. A SUMMER SHOWER The rain is o"er--How dense and bright Yon pearly clouds reposing lie! Cloud above cloud, a glorious sight, Contrasting with the deep-blue sky: In grateful silence the earth receives The general blessing; fresh and fair, Each flower expands its little leaves, As glad the common joy to share. Epperson was born..1890 I located them in Buffalo, AR..where unlce Charlie Epperson was born..1891 Mary Arden Epperson was born and died age 2..1893 Aunt Clara Epperson was born in Fairplay,MO...1894 Aunt Francis ( Neva) was born in Fairplay,MO..1895 My father Carl Ross Epperson was born at Fairpaly,MO 1896 Elbert B.Epperson died at birth....Does any of these sound familar to you?
