He is my grandmother's brother. My grandmother was Mary Lauretta Norton, who married Alva Monroe Hall. My grandmother died in Milwaukee, WI in 1934, her dad, Enos Norton, died in the same area in 1938. Enos' wife was Elizabeth ?, from Wisconsin corner by Chicago, IL. I haven't been able to get too much on them. They did go to school in the Milwaukee area. Eugene was the point of infor for Enos death record - but he didn't offer much on the death certificate. I think he might have been from Chicago - both Mary & Eugene were born in Chicago in 1884 & 1886 or close to that. I am just finishing moving, so my genealogy has been packed away for some months. Just starting to dig it back out again. Stay in touch. Marty

An interesting site regarding the Whaling men of New England is: www.explorenorth.com/whalers/ I don't know if any of my Norton's were whalers, but some may have been. If you find any of your Norton men were whalers, why don't you share it with the list? Joan Norton Mullen
The descendants of Nicholas Norton of Edgartown, Martha's Vineyard always hold their reunion the third Saturday of August, this year it will be August 17th, starting at 10:30 AM at the Nordica Museum in Farmington, Maine. Bring a picnic lunch and any genealogical information you would like to share. There are picnic tables on the museum grounds, if the weather is inclement, we will meet at the Fairbanks Church. The museum is on the right side of Holley road, approximately one mile from the intersection of Routes 4 and 27, going north from Farmington. You may contact: Richard A. Norton, Secretary 24 Cobbert Rd. Portland, ME 04102 Ph: 1-207-773-7344 I'm so sorry that I won't be there, as around the beginning of August, I tell my husband that I have that "Maine feeling." What a beautiful time of year to visit that beautiful state. Have fun! and enjoy yourselves among your cousins. Joan Norton Mullen

Hi, I think these people probably are in my family in someway. My grandfather was born in Battle Creek. Fred Luther Norton and most of his bro and sisters too. There was Edwin James, Thomas S B, Vincent W, Fred Luther, Rueben J or T, Samuel W, Elmer Jay, Walter Ray. Births start in 1872 and end in 1895. It looks to me like the Nortons you are asking about are cousins of my branch. Looks like your branch went to MI first. My grandfather, Fred L, then moved on to CO. One thing we have always loved it moving and traveling. It must be a Norton thing. In one place you have a Elizabeth (Bessie) Norton b. 1881 in NE. My great uncle Sammie married a lady and all I ever knew was her name was Bessie. But she died in Lakeland, FL, so I don't think it is the same one, do you? I will keep your info incase I run across something for you in the future Nancy Norton-Nix nncynix@aol.com

I have been able to track this family because of the following censuses - 1860 Boston, Suffolk County, MA 1870 Rutland, La Salle County, IL 1880 Aurora, Hamilton County, NE 1891 Chatham, Northumberland County, New Brunswick, CAN 1900 Boston, Suffolk County, MA 1910 ?? 1920 ?? I did find the son (David Woodman Norton) in the 1920 census 1920 Wellesley, Norfolk, MA Norton, David W., husband, 44, b. IL Norton, Elizabeth, wife, 35, b. MA Norton, David W. Jr., son, 11, b. MA I was able to find David W. Norton, Jr. later in life, he went to Episcopal Theological School in Cambridge and graduated in 1933. Ordained 1933, Priest 1934. Father David W. Norton died April 3, 1985 in Salem, MA leaving two cousins, Edward Robinson of Dedham and Hope Robinson Rhodes of Woodstock, VT. I can't find Edward or Hope. So if you think about it, our last name should be Wells not Norton, but since Ashely David Wells last name was changed to Norton (legelly or not) we are now Norton. I would love to hear from any of Ashley's half siblings and trade Norton genealogy. I have been working on the Norton's for almost 9 years now and have collected a lot of information on them.

I know very little about her, but it seems likely that she came from the CT Nortons. Lemuel Cone, her husband, was born in 1755 in Haddam. They married before 1779, when their son Ezra was born in Windham, Westminster Co., VT. Susannah died in 1792, in Vermont? The family moved to New York ca 1810, and Lemuel died in Batavia, Genesee Co., NY, in 1824. Any help will be greatly appreciated!
