(Indenture was renewed to 3 years) IND. DATE: 07 Apr 1757 This is available on Ancestry.com Also Probate Papers of Danbury#3488 "On 20 Nov. 1786 Asa Norton, a minor of Newtown, being of age for choosing a guardian{ie. over 14 years of age} chose Mrs. Mabel Norton, widow of Asa Norton of Newtown, to be his lawful guardian until he arrive at the age of twenty one years. And on 22 November 1786 Mabel Norton as principal with Abraham Baldwin as surety was bonded guardian to Asa Norton, son of Dr. Asa Norton, deceased, a minor of about 17 years. I think that this last pretty well proves the connection of the two Asa's. If you do learn anything on the relationship of Nathaniel to this family please let me know.
Hi all, I think I have just broke down the brick wall I have been facing for the past 6 years!!! Does anyone have any information on a Jeremiah Norton who in 1800 in Yarmouth, Norfolk, England married Elizabeth Jillings? Their children from what I can piece together were: Mary b. 1811 Lee Thomas b. 1816 Richard b. 1819 Martha b. 1822 Edward b. 1825 All the children were born in Yarmouth. I have been trying to find the parent's of Richard Lee Norton for a LONG time. I knew that he had some connection to a Martha Norton b. in Yarmouth in abt. 1823. After locating these parent's and these children I feel confident that with further research I will be able to make some definite connections. One other thing - Richard named one of his son's Thomas Lee Norton!!!! Would love to hear from anybody who has a connection with this Norton family. Thanks, Patricia

I am away from home at this time, and do not have all my NORTON information, but as best as I can recall, I have found nothing to document this relationship. I am, however, interested in the information you speak of (court doucments) that prove Dr. Asa as my Asa's father. I was just about to order copy of microfilm from Danbury, CT to try and get this very information that was told to me by another. I had found where there was an Asa NORTON who could possibly be this Dr. Asa who was apprenticed to a Dr. and who was son of John NORTON of Suffield. I'm sorry I do not have anything to help you on Nathaniel at the moment.Anna Hayes, Lake Charles, LA

This info. lists the family as far back as a Richard Norton b. abt. 1590 in England. This info lists probate estate papers from Danbury CT that pretty well ties your Asa to Dr. Asa Norton. The info lists brothers, Philo Nathaniel, and John. Also a sister Sarah. I am trying to prove a tie of Nathaniel Norton to Dr. Asa Norton. I'm not too sure of the info that I received and am trying to verify it. Any info that you have on Nathaniel would be appreciated.

I've been trying for years to find out what happened to my William Norton in Tompkins County, NY. My grandmother thought his name was Henry, so maybe that was a middle name or he might have gone by that. I've tried to get a service record from him and got the wrong one. There was another William Norton there at the same time. This William married Lydia Swansbrough, and had two children, Henrietta and Mary. He was in the 1860 Census, but not the 1870 one. I think he may be the son of Leonard Norton. Lydia is the daughter of William and Mary Ann Swansbrough. If this sounds familiar to anyone, please let me know. Thanks.
