    3. Hello fellow Norton researchers. I'm sorry to bother you, but I'm confused as to how the following message arrived - was it through the list service I guess I don't understand how this works and could use some guidance. The other day I wrote into the list re the ancestry of the George Norton who married Patience Bell. I'm not sure if it was to me who you referred your virus warning message. If so, I'm confused because I am running Norton Virus Protection software, which I update constantly, and it says I'm clear of any viruses. Thanks, Betty Brady ----- Original Message ----- From: "jerusha tanner" <vze4gtmh@verizon.net> To: <NORTON-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, March 04, 2003 8:12 AM Subject: [NORTON] Re: NORTON-D Digest V03 #32 > Hello. 1. [NORTON] David Norton vs John Norton of NY/CT
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Qi3.2ACIB/1851 Message Board Post: David Norton b. 1770s CT to NY to OH - lived in Cortland Co, NY in 1820 and Lake Co, OH 1830 & 1840 - in both places he lived near Loniel Bennett. John Norton b. 1775 CT to NY - father John - lived in Otsego Co, NY in 1850 with wife Lucy. Lucy was still on the 1870 census and I think died in the late 1870s at over 100 yrs of age. My Loniel Bennett lived near David in NY and OH who could have been Sarah's father or uncle. Sarah's mother died at age 104. So Lucy could have been her mother. Does anyone have info on the children of John and Lucy Norton, both born in CT about 1775? Does anyone have info as to children of David Norton, son of Ozias, or his brothers?

    3. I am very interested in your recent Norton post. Your Ohio Nortons MAY be related to the Ohio Nortons I am tracing. The migration path [CT to NY to Geauga Ohio] is the same. And I believe I may have some info on Chauncy Norton in my files; will have to dig a little. Perhaps we can help each other by sharing further details. Please respond privately to my email address [below.] Look forward to hearing from you further. Darlene Joyce, MN I am tracing the descendants of Thomas and Grace Wells Norton, of Guilford CT. [They appear to be the original immigrants in my Norton line.] They had a large family, as did most of their children, and there are many descendant lines. I am especially interested in this one: 1. Thomas Norton and Grace Wells, England to Guilford CT 2. John Norton b. 1640; m.1 Hannah Stone; m.2 Eliz. Hubbard; res. CT 3. John Norton b. 1668; m. Hannah Peck; res. Wethersfield CT 4. Joseph Norton 1704-1781; m. Mary Champion; d. Guilford CT 5. David Norton, b. 1730; m. 1 Submit Benton; m. 2 Suza Bishop; res. Wolcott, CT [orig. New Haven County, now Litchfield] 6. Ozias Norton 1753-1840; m. Maria Frisbie; maybe Rev. War. 7. David Norton 1773-1860; m. Dinah Welton [Wilton]--David born in Wolcott, Litchfield CT; res. German, Chenango County NY, Spafford, Onondaga County NY; Truxton NY; buried Spafford. David and Dinah had 14 children; several went to Geauga County OH David's brother, Moses, also lived for a time in Spafford NY. 8. Lauren Norton, b. 1797; m. 1 Prudence Town; m. 2 Betsy Maria Bacon; res. Spafford, Onondaga Co. NY, Parkman, Geauga County, OH; and Palatine, Cook County IL. Buried at Parkman OH. 9. Surnames: Norton Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Qi3.2ACIB/1850 Message Board Post: David Norton was found on the 1820 Homer, Cortland Co, NY census living very close to Lonial (Loniel) Bennett. In 1830, he was found near Loniel Bennett in Geauga Co, OH. In 1840, he was in Lake Co (formerly Geauga) and disappeared in 1850. It is possible that he is the father of Sarah Norton b. 1796 wife of Loniel Bennett b. 1792. It is found in family records that Sarah's mother lived to the age of 104. The only Norton woman that was near 100 in the NY/OH area in the 1870s is a Lucy living in NY (Oneida Co?) with Chauncey Norton, unmarried 68 yrs. Does anyone have any info of this David or Lucy? They may have come from Conn thru Rensselaer Co, NY. Thanks

    3. Listers Please note, some AV programs mistakely trigger a virus alert on digests. This is due to the embedded emails within the digest. If this happens to you, to avoid this, I recommend changing your subscription to List mode instead of digest. True viruses will still be found when they appear but false triggers will be lessened. As admin of the list, I receive both individual messages and digest mode. The messages are scanned and, yes, I receive alerts on some of the digests for double extensions. They are clean in the individual posts and are clean when I open the messages in binary format to verify their content without opening them in my email program.
