Looking for more information on Jeremiah Norton who was married to Elizabeth Jillings in Gret Yarmouth, England in 1800. They had 5 children Mary b. 1811 Lee 1816 Richard 1819 Martha 1822 Edward 1825 I believe Martha Norton to be the person who married Robert Brock and lived in St. Luke, Middlesex, England. The above Richard Norton I believe to be Richard Lee Norton who married Hannah Pozer Jeffery in 1854 in Quebec City, Canada. They had 8 children Richard Lee b. 1854 Thomas Lee b. 1857 George Robertson b. 1860 Elizabeth b. 1862 Robert Jeffery b. 1865 James McKay b. 1868 Alfred b. 1871 Caroline b. 1878 Richard Lee Norton was a sea Captain and died in Quebec City in 1893. His obituary stated "On the 28th instant, Richard Lee Norton, snr. (?), aged 74 years and 4 months. The funeral will take place from his late residence 444(?) St. Augustin St., this (Monday) afternoon, at 2 o'clock, to St. Matthew's Church, and thence to Mount Hermon Cemetery. Friends will please accept this invitation. Montreal, Brooklyn, Chicago and London, Eng. papers please copy." Anyone who has ANY information about the above families would really make my DAY / YEAR!!!! Patricia

Hi out there. If you have found any interesting tidbits or are still staring at a brick wall instead of the relative, please post your discovery or disappearing ancestor. You might meet up with somebody who has the key. Remember, the alternate spelling of 'Genealogy' is 'Serendipity' :-) Eric List Admin

Hello! I am trying to help Scotland County's Heritage Book. Right now they are trying to get enough interest to put together a Heritage Book like most of the other North Carolina counties. Sam West who also has Scotland County Roots sent me this email below. Do you think you could write a little something on your ancestors? I am told that you don't have to purchase to submit. Can't verify the French-Indian connection either. I do know that Thomas H, Norton went to California during or after the gold rush days..his son, John was born around 1871 in San Francisco, CA. I'm pretty sure of the connection, because my aunt Dorothy's middle name is Sautell and the baptist minister who married Thomas H. Norton and Mary E. Sarle's NAME was Sautelle....coincidence? PLEASE tell me what you may know about Thomas H. Norton. Was he a sea captain? an ordinary seaman? How can I find out? I really need a little help here. Regards, Joanie Trahan

I have a question for you. Who was Musie or Musa Dunevan? What was your maiden name? Thanks for any info you may get on this family because I have been searching for years and cannot get any more information. Most of the dates I gave you came from the Social Security Index. The names of the brothers, sisters came from my Aunt Farris Irene Coleman Martin who lives in Phenix City, AL across from Columbus, GA. She lived in Columbus all of her life until she moved to a retirement home in Phenix City. Jeannine Thomas B. Dunevan was of Irish decent. He lost his eye sight in his early 20's and was blind. He lived in Grantville, GA. Marvin Dunevan was in the U.S. Army; WWI received the Croix de Guerre (War Cross) in France for bravery; Purple Heart and Battle Commission (lst. Lt.) Gassed by Nerve Gas in WWI causing him to have Emphysema. I was told by by Aunt Farris that he had a great sense of humor. 9.

Hello listers, I have followed the listings for Giles Norton and I am interested in sharing info. My husband descends from Melissa Jane Norton and John Lee. My records from Melissa's grandson Donald Forrest Lee; Melissa b/ 29 Jan. 1834, Brownsville, Cass Co., Mi. - d/ 18 Jan. 1922, Calhan, El Paso Co., Co. William Wheeler Lee, b/8 Mar 1865 Cass Co., Mi - d/29 Jul 1944, Morris Co., Ks. Bur; Greenwood Cemetery, Council Grove, Morris Co., Ks issue; Youngest son, Donald Forrest Lee and his oldest son, M. T. Lee, my hubby. John Lee died from burns, Melissa never remarried, she moved to Nemaha Co., Ks 1880, with Flora Etta and her family and a cousin of William, Lydia A. Lee Adamson and family. Much of my info is from family records and censi records. We do have pictures of Melissa Jane, David and his three children, one son and two daughters and one of Levi Norton's daughter, several others without names. I also have records of Nathan, Levi and Pleasant Norton, but mostly censi. Does any one know if they are brothers, to Giles or nephews or how related? Also would like to find out if Giles wife Elizabeth's maiden name was Wheeler. Family story believes is was, that would explain where the Wheeler middle name for William came from. Family lore has it that Sampson, Melissa's brother, went to Minniapolis, Mn.; either help plat the city or purchased a large amount of land there; sold it and moved from there with family to Sadalia, Mo 1180s, give or take a few years, purchased one section of land for each of his 4 children. In the early 1980s I searched there and have not found any thing I could connect with the story. There was a Norton family there, very well to do, dates before 1900, I would have to look thru my notes to come up with the name, but no Sampson. Thank you. Evelyn Ks
Hello, I am very interested in the names of NORTON immigrants in the early 1600s to Virginia or any that immigrated into New England and then came to Virginia early on especially any that might have been in Old Rappahannock County, Virginia. Thank you. Sincerely, Bellinda Myrick - Barnett

For those unaware of it, there is a website that can supply info for records on all of the American wars, including the Pension applications for these wars. There is also a link to a Civil War database which is searchable by a soldiers name, that can supply you needed info as to a soldiers unit and rank, ect. The site also gives you direct links to the required NARA sites for request forms to order the Pension files. These forms come within a few days of the request and I have found this site invaluable in finding records on soldiers and sailors of all nationalities and think it can be very helpful to those looking for this type of information.
