    1. [NORTON] Delia Norton - Dublin, Ireland Lookup
    2. Hi LIsters We would appreciate if someone on the list could help us locate the baptismal records or lead us in the right direction. We are looking for birth record of Delia Norton, born 26 Dec 1836, in Dublin, Ireland. We have no parents listed for her. However, in a 1899 obt. for Ann (Dolan) Norton, a Delia was listed as one of her children. However, we have found this record: NORTON, Maria Christening Gender: Female Christening Date: 3 Feb 1839 Recorded in: Athlone and Drum, Roscommon, Ireland Collection: Roman Catholic Father: Jaacobi NORTON <meaning James> Mother: Annae DOLAN <meaning Ann> Source FHL Film 9899750 Dates 1837- 1839 Our Irish information on our Norton line is very limited, so we need help in finding our Irish ancestors. It would help us a great deal if we could find the townland that Maria was christen in. As far as we knew, until Friday, was that James Norton and Ann Dolan's daughter Delia preceded her mother Ann, who lived until 1899. Then we get a e-mail from a descendant of Delia Norton, who lived in the New Labanon/Labanon Springs area of New York, so we have to find out if Delia is James and Ann Norton's daughter. We have a distorted newspaper obt of my gr.gr.grandfather and it said that the Nortons were from Althone, County Roscommon, Ireland. The townland was so hard to make out, we think it might be Creagh, but we are not really sure. All we are sure of is that it began with "C." We haven't been able to find a marriage record of James Norton and Ann Dolan. We think they were married about 1832, we thought County Roscommon, Ireland. BACKGROUND: James NORTON - born 1812 Ann DOLAN - born 1813 Children that we know about who was born in County Roscommon, Ireland: Matthew - born 1832 or later (I have also seen the year as 1835) Roseann - born December 16, 1837 Maria - born 1839 James C. - born November 15, 1847 They migrated to America about 1849 and settled in Lebanon Springs, New York and more Norton children were in New York and Illinois. We would appreciate it if someone could help us find the christening records for Delia, Matthew, Roseann and James C. Norton. Thank you, Mary Boudreau

    2. Diane, I was searching for the entire (digest version) of that issue. It was sent to me regarding a HOGAN connection and I was unable to access. I subscribed hoping to be able to access archives and that issue and any follow up, but only seemed to find message and queries instead of the digest itself. The original sender-Pat- has since re contacted me and will send again. Thank you all for being so helpful. Bonnie GARRITY

    3. I don't believe that the digests are archived as they are just a compiled version of the postings. Postings are archived and accessible by hyperlinks to month and year. Vol3, Digest #99 was in the second from last week of June. Best bet is to browse the month of June. 1. [NORTON] Stamps for breast cancer research
    2. Jim & Sally
    3. Hello All: I know that this is an off topic subject for these lists but I am going to take my lumps and put it here for all to see. I received the following from a friend and thought it should be passed on to everyone, everywhere as it is a worthy cause. " We need those of you who are great at forwarding on information with your e-mail network. Please read and pass this on. It would be wonderful if 2003 were the year a cure for breast cancer was found!!!! This is one e-mail you should be glad to pass on. The notion that we could raise $35 million by buying a book of stamps is powerful!! As you may be aware, the US Postal Service recently released its new "Fund the Cure" stamps to help fund breast cancer research. A "normal" book costs $7.40. This one is only $8.00. It takes a few minutes in line at the Post Office and means so much. If all stamps are sold, it will raise an additional $35,000,000 for this vital research. Just as important as the money is our support. What a statement it would make if the stamp outsold the lottery this week. What a statement it would make that we care. I would urge you to do two things today: 1. Go out and purchase some of these stamps. 2. E-mail your friends to do the same. We all know women and their families whose lives are turned upside-down by breast cancer. It takes so little to do so much in this drive. I think we can all afford the 60 cents. Please help and pass it on." Jim Bogard
