I am looking for information on my gggrandparents. I know his name was David Norton and I think her name was Retha. I have no idea what her maiden name would have been. She died when my ggrandfather was only 2 years old. My grandfather did not even know her name and I just happened to come by the name Retha in an article that was written about my ggrandfather when he was 102 years old. My grandfathers name was Gilbert Ambrose Norton married to Anna Mae Fox, Gilberts father was Matthew Gilbert Norton married to Mary Elizabeth Essman, Matthew's father was David Norton and that is where I am stuck at. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Susie

I am stuck on a John Norton who would have been born about the same time with a wife Susannah B. which have have taken to mean beitleman since a grandson had beitleman as a middle name. Problem is I believe he was in or around the Easton PA area and migrated back and forth across the Delaware during his life including a stint withteh 2nd Pa Regiment during the Revolution. There was a son Joseph and Henry. I just don't think that Harrisburg was in the mix.....good luck

There was also a Richard Norton who descended from Edward Norton (Quakers) who may have been in your area and one of his offspring might have had a son by name of William. Seemed like a pretty popular name those days. Some of those descendants went to Indiana. I haven't tried to track that line at all. We are finally resorting to the DNA testing to try and get the male Norton's in the right stalls. It is painless (swab inside of cheek with a cotton tipped swab), reasonable (less than $100 and at $2.25/gal for gas, cheaper than running around) and reliable. Will keep your line in mind and let you know if I run into them.
