Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/Qi3.2ACIB/1707.3 Message Board Post: There was an Elizabeth Norton, born August 23, 1794 in Mifflin county. She was the third of 10 children born to John Norton (born in Holland in 1767) and Jane Noss (of Lancaster county). Her parents settled in Mifflin county in 1790 and are both buried on their home farm. Her father died in 1842. John Norton, her father, was born in Holland and emigrated to America in boyhood and settled in Lancaster county, where he became a weaver's apprentice and where he lived during the Revolutionary war. After moving in 1790 to Mifflin county, he ran a farm and blacksmith shop. I believe that this was in Wayne township in Mifflin county.

    2. Nancy Porter
    3. Hi; Is there anyone on this list that's near Los Angeles? (City - rather than County) I have been tracing Madame Nordica's sister, Imogene. (Lillian Norton b. Farmington, Maine) I found Imogene's death date on-line through the Death Records site. I was excited!!! She died Feb 23 1924 as Imogene Castillo. She married Emilio/Emillio Castillo. They were in LA in 1920 Census. So I took a shot a death date and found it. I'd LOVE to get a copy of a death certificate to see if she was a "widow" or "wife" at the time of death. I did not find Emilio's death on the death date site. So I'm not sure if he was still alive, moved out of the LA area by the time he died - maybe later than she did. Sure would appreciate any help! Nancy Porter

The people came laden with good things eatable, and took possession of the house. Inasmuch as this worthy couple have prospered with this world's goods, it was not esteemed necessary that the party should take gifts as proof of their friendship. (date penned on clipping, 1887) Mr. S.G. Norton died yesterday, at 3 P.M., after a long and very painful illness, the disease being of the throat and tongue.
