But, I do not think that it was you who posted that.....anyway, there are more generations in your family than mine, I guess, as I am his 8th great granddaughter on my mothers side of the family. I descend from Daniel Northup who was his great grandson who settled in Ohio. There are a ton of Northups there. I was lucky in that I did find out who my Lyman Northup was. I had to get a copy of the 1865 NY Census for Saratoga County,NY where he was shown living with his wife, Bridget. Bridget had been married twice before she married Lyman and had several children by the previous marriages. She had a son George Northup/rup by Lyman. George was the father of my mother-in-law, Regina Northrup. Bridget died in 1869 and left a will which mentioned her husband Lyman but not where he came from. I finally got a copy of the New York State 1865 census which gave me his birth place as R.I. so I took it from there. He was the son of a William Northup, who was a son of a Anthony Northup. Seems like all the R.I. Northups came from a Henry Northup born 1663 in Providence, Providence Co., R.I. I was able to research his line in R.I. Evidently Lyman was a fairly common name in the Northup line - one became a pretty famous lawyer in Washing! to Co., NY. So I am a hapy camper - that end of the line has been found. Good luck in your future endeavors. Carolyn Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
