Thanks very much to Sue, David and Nivard for the details of "my" John LAKE. It seems that on this occasion family stories were more or less accurate. The survivor "A REED" was probably Anthony REED, who was living in Bell St in 1901, and working in the harbour on trawler-related jobs. (in case anyone wants to claim him!) Onwards!
