Hello All I wonder if anyone has any idea's on the following: Douglas Robson was born in Newcastle in 1835 his parents were John Robson & Eleanor Urwin. The family moved to Sunderland around 1847, Douglas is not showing on the 1851 Census as he was a Seaman in the Merchant Service, the last trace I have of him was 1856 when he was serving on the 'SS Cairngorm' which sailed to Australia, after that the trail goes cold, he does not show on any further English Census, or is there any record of him getting married or his death. Maybe he stayed in Australia? Thanks Allan

Hi Alan, A quick check of NSW Marriages 1788-1962 and Deaths 1788-1982 have no record for a Douglas Robson. NSW is not the only state in Australia, he could have stayed in Victoria, Tasmania, South Australia or Western Australia, all with separate records.
