    3. Hi Allan There is a sad little item in the Shields Daily Gazette of 3 Sep 1867 about a 12 year old Douglas Robson charged with stealing a shilling (from someone living in Tyne Dock). His father is stated to be in Australia. Any connection? If so, you may wish to put your enquiry on an Australian forum and I am sure they will be very helpful. You could also check the on-line BMD indexes for the various Australian states - [have just seen that Royalene has kindly done NSW]. Google for the addresses. [Just saw Royalene's message & agree about name change - this was v common] You may also wish to try searching historical newspapers - http://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper I see that Ancestry has Douglas Robson aged 24 on board the Cairngorm in 1860, sailing London to Sydney, so maybe he came and went from the UK? Have you checked the merchant seamen's records on FMP? 3. Thanks for both replies, it is possible he changed his name, the The Douglas Robson you found in 1867 is one I have looked at , I have never found his birth to see who his parents were, I think there is a possibility that he could be the son of my Douglas Robson especially with the Australia Connection.
