Thanks very much for your reply Nivard. It is a scan of a hand written index and on re-examination, you are right - it is FAIRLEY. The descending "y" went into the ascending "h" or similar on the line below, and is fuzzy as well. Yes, the title was not connected; it was the title of the email I "replied" to for the address.
