Hi, Is anyone researching Martha RICHARDSON daughter of William RICHARDSON? She married William Ramsay CRESSEY on 29 July 1856 at St Peter Monkwearmouth, according to familysearch.org This gives her father as William RICHARDSON and the groom as a widower , son of William CRESSEY. I have the marriage between William CRESSEY & Mary RAMSAY Jarrow 1817. William R. CRESSEY possibly had a first wife Mary? My interest is because I believe Martha was a witness to her niece's wedding (Margaret RICHARDSON to William F. THOMPSON Bp Auckland July 1846). This ties her into the family of William & Dorothy RICHARDSON of Bp. Auckland, as I think Martha had a sister Mary who was the mother of Margaret RICHARDSON. I know that Margaret RICHARDSON was likely to be illegitimate as her marriage certificate gives her father as Robert MOORE, and census gives her birth around 1828 at either Bp.Auckland or Darlington. It also looks like Martha also had a child out of wedlock - Annie - born around 1847 Bp. Auckland, as she is with the CRESSEY family in 1871 & 81. I would be interested if anyone can find me details of Annie in 1851. I have the CRESSEY family in 1871 and 1881 in Yorkshire, but it looks like they were in the London area around 1860 when Martha Ramsay CRESSEY was born. I have not found them in 1861 yet. William R. CRESSEY was an engine smith according to the 1881 census. Thanks, -- Helen Oram
