    3. Hi Ruth, I suspect Jeff is right, and it's Oakenshaw. In the 1871 Census it's been transcribed as Chenshaw, as John says ... but looking at it, it actually looks more like Oakenshaw. In 1861, she seems to have been recorded as Charles E, a son, but the age fits, and the birthplace as "Branspath" ... presumably Brancepath, which is adjacent to Oakenshaw. The marriage entry record records her as Charlotte Elizabeth Taggart, so the initial is also correct in 1861.
