Having just happened upon someone in the Gateshead Guardians Cottage Homes in the 1911 Census, I wondered what these would be and I came across the following message from Brian, 27 March 2005: "Unfortunately there are no surviving records of youngsters in the workhouse or Cottage Homes." I only looked at the transcript of one person, Margaret E.T. Thubron, a 15 year-old inmate "Domestic Training", but the reference for her is: RG14PN29882 RD550 SD2 ED5 SN282 which should get anyone interested into the right area. Adrian
