    3. In 1841 Andrew Reed is shown as living in Heworth - see ref. HO 107 / 297 / 3.  The sign against his name whether born in county looks like N rather than Y - on the other hand it looks the same as the sign against his wife Sarah who the 1861 census suggests was indeed born in Co. Durham, and different from his eldest children Elizabeth and James - their sign in 1841 looks more like a Y and yet the later census records them as born in Northumberland. --- On Thu, 29/10/09, Christel Muncaster <christelhelen@yahoo.co.uk> wrote: From: Christel Muncaster <christelhelen@yahoo.co.uk> Subject: Re: [NMB] Andrew Reed c1815 To: northumbria@rootsweb.com Date: Thursday, 29 October, 2009, 12:42 PM Thank you all so much for your help with this. Still not sure which option to plump for yet, but am learning more about Durham/Northumberland geography and history all the time! I can see how both Belford and Bedlington could get transcribed into Bedfordshire ... Newsham near Blyth (and Bedlington) is very close to Bill Quay and Gateshead where I can place the family. However, I am quite convinced by the baptism in Ellingham which would lead me to Mousen near Belford. Perhaps both are right! maybe Andrew was born in Newsham, but one or both of the parents came from Mousen which is why he was baptised at Ellingham. I guess it would be easy to mishear one for the other ... 3. Hello again, It's a dilemma; still weighing up all this useful information, and keeping my options open. I shall order the marriage certificate when I do my next batch, and hope to begin to clear this up ... Many thanks Christel --- On Thu, 29/10/09, Mark Todd <marktod@yahoo.com> wrote: > From: Mark Todd <marktod@yahoo.com> > Subject: Re: [NMB] Andrew Reed c1815 > To: northumbria@rootsweb.com > Date: Thursday, 29 October, 2009, 10:53 PM > In 1841 Andrew Reed is shown as > living in Heworth - see ref.
