    1. Re: [NMB] Andrew Reed c1815
    2. Christel, So the marraige of Andrew and Sarah was registered in the Sept (3rd) Quarter of 1838 within Gateshead Registration District. On the l841 census ( page ref 297/3 51-48) Andrew 25 and Sarah 24, Reed , with Elizabeth 2 and James 5 months, are living in Bill Quay, a community within the Chapelry ( later Parish) of Heworth, in County Durham. The couple annotated as not born within County Durham. The two children annotated as born within County Durham For BMD registration purposes Bill Quay/Heworth lay with Gateshead Reg District. As you point out the 1881 census ( ref 4966-59-11) has Andrew born in Northumberland. Earlier census have born in County Durham and Bedfordshire. So there seemed to have been geographic doubts on enumerators or the couple's part. Anyway at a push I could see the Mewsome as Newsom. This is how I ( a south-east Northumbrian) would say "Newsham". Newsham ( now part of the town of Blyth) was a township of the Parish of Earsdon. On to Catholic churches of the day for baptism places for Andrew, in Newsham, Northumberland ( there was at least one Newsham in County Durham ! ) St Cuthbert's North Shields about 7 miles St Robert's, Morpeth, c6 St Andrew's, Newcastle c11 In which church did Andrew/Sarah marry ?
