In the following death notice of our great grandmother from the Newcastle Evening Chronicle Monday, August 17, 1903, it states that burial is to take place at Sheriff Hill. >>WINSPER - 2, St. Mary's Terrace, Carr's Hill, 16th inst., Ann Maria, >>aged 65 years, beloved wife of the late Samuel Platt Winsper >>and eldest daughter of the late Peter and Dinah Freeman. >>Interment Sheriff Hill, Wednesday; lift at 3. >>All friends kindly invited. Can anyone tell me if this would be the churchyard of St John's church - or was there another burial place in Sheriff Hill??? Is this the same place as Gateshead Fell, St John? Ann Maria's mother Dinah FREEMAN had been buried at St John's, Sheriff Hill a few years earlier. >>Friday, February 17, 1899 >>FREEMAN - Sheriff Hill, on 16th inst., aged 79, Dinah, widow of the late >>Peter Freeman, late of Darlaston. >>To be interred at St. John's, Sheriff Hill, Sunday; lift 3 o'clock. If St John's, does anyone know if there is a list of MI's for that graveyard available? I haven't had any luck finding it in the NDFHS lists. thanks Heather

Is this the > same place as Gateshead Fell, St John? > Ann Maria's mother Dinah FREEMAN had been buried at St John's, > Sheriff Hill a few years earlier. Sheriff Hill referred to Gateshead Fell, St John. There is no other burial ground on Sheriff Hill. > If St John's, does anyone know if there is a list of MI's for that > graveyard available? It is described as "Transcript Gateshead, St. John, Monumental Inscriptions (With" - with whatever follows "(With" missing. I cannot see anything similar for sale.
