    2. No matter how big/small Shipley was/is... it was one of the sixteen "townships" that comprised the Parish of Eglingham. Genuki site ( within the Eglingham Parish section) lists Shipley, Shipley Burn, Shipley Lane, Shipley Smallburns, Shipley Hill and Shipley Wood. The Northumberland CC database entitled "Farm Index" ( it is much more than that) lists these " Places" lying within the "township" of Shipley, within Eglingham Parish... Shipley, Shipley Hill, Shipley Lane, Shipley Mill, Shipley Moor, Shipley West Field and Old Shipley. ( Also a Shipley Shiels/Shields within Parish of Thorneyburn - but nearly 40 miles distant) On 1841 census ( Piece 829 Book 20 Folio 3 Page 4) has 124 within Shipley township...... 21 folk in Shipley Small Burns, 11 Shipley West Field, 13 Shipley Hill, 14 Shipley Moor, 13 Old Shipley , 28 Shipley, 21 Shipley Lane and 3 at Shipley Mill.
