Hi Rod, Claremont Place faces the east fence of the R.V.I. Much of it is now either University property or Departments of the R.V.I. They are Huge Terraced houses of that era and would certainly be classed as "Posh". Regards Gerry Fun games for all the family from Tiscali Play - http://www.tiscali.co.uk/play
Hi Gerry, Thanks for that. I'm researching the life of W J Sanderson, a Newcastle philanthropist of the late Victorian, Edwardian era and he and his father lived there for some years. I guess the whole St Andrews area was up-market as some of the family lived in St Thomas's Crescent, which I cannot find at all on modern maps. Thanks again, Rod S. -----Original Message----- From: gerry.langley@tiscali.co.uk [mailto:gerry.langley@tiscali.co.uk] Sent: 16 November 2009 15:31 To: northumbria@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [NMB] Claremont Place Hi Rod, Claremont Place faces the east fence of the R.V.I. Rod St Thomas' Crescent runs from St Thomas' Street to Leazes Park Road. Grand old terraces on both sides of the road.
