Hi Jack, Following on from Jenny's note. The nearest Catholic Churches I know of in the areas that may help : Holy Trinity Church, Old Bewick - Just north of Old Bewick http://www.northumberland-cam.com/churches/old-bewick.htm St. Paul's Church Alnwick - There used to be a church in Baliffgate that was closer St. Mary Immaculate, Whittingham - North of Whittingham, half way to Glanton http://communities.northumberland.gov.uk/006391FS.htm Best Regards Kevin
Kevin Old Berwick, Holy Trinity is C of E, not Catholic, and was a disused ruin for much of the 18th century and well into the 19th when it was restored. St Paul's at Alnwick didn't become Roman Catholic until 1982 and it didn't exist at all in the period of interest to Jack. It was opened in 1846. The Roman Catholic church in Bailiffgate which you mention was St Mary's and is was indeed open in the mid 18th century, though no records are extant before the 1790s. St Mary Immaculate at Whittingham dates from the 19th century, so is too recent for Jack. There was a Catholic chapel at nearby Callaly Castle at the time of interest to Jack, but again no records are extant before the 1790s.
