Can anyone advise about specific ship building/repair records in Jarrow in 1877? My grandfather and eight siblings were all born in Dundee 1876-1892 and the family moved to Newcastle in about 1895. My great grandfather John Ogilvie Liddell was a shipwright /ship's carpenter who apparently travelled widely (hearsay several times round Cape Horn), but until now I have not found any records. I have this week received the death certificate for the firstborn in this family, Isabella, who was born in Dundee in Nov 1876, but died of pneumonia in Jarrow at the age of four months in Mar 1877. The address was 6 Frederick Street, Jarrow, and her father was present at the death. I would like to find out why they were there at this time, how long they would have stayed and would this journey have been typical? Can anyone suggest a research route please? Kath
