Hi Two posts in the "Victory pics Gateshead" thread have been rejected by the mailing list software because they were far too big. The actual messages were tiny - just a line or two - but the quotations were huge. Please note what our list rules say on the subject of quotations: "When responding to a message do not quote the whole of the original message. Edit your quote to include the minimum needed to put your response in context ..." For some reason in this thread posters have not only quoted the whole of the original message, they've quote the entire thread up to that point, so the posts were getting longer and longer. It's quite ridiculous - one of the rejected messages consisted of a single sentence, but the quotation included several entire messages and totaled more than 11,000 byes. That's almost enough in that single post to fill a digest. Some of the messages which reached the list weren't much better and doubtless a just scraped past the size limitation. What a waste of space! We only need enough of a quote to put the response in context, a handful of lines is usually enough. So, please, before you press "Send", have a look at the quote, decide what little bit of that quote is needed to remind readers what you are replying to, AND DELETE THE REST.
