    1. [NMB] Thomas Dawson - Stamfordham C. 1735

    3. Hi everyone, Prompted by the recent line on Stamfordham / Heugh (Michael Fairless, earlier this week), I have started looking at my Dawson line again. I wonder whether anyone can help me back a little further than Thomas Dawson, born in Stamfordham around 1735. I know that he married Jane Wallis on 9 Jun 1755 in Stamfordham, but have no more information about Jane. Their first son, John, was born in that October (!!), but sadly died in Mar 1758. Their second son was born in Jan 1959 and was then also named John. The Dawsons then remained in Stamfordham / Matfen / Ingoe for the next hundred years or so before moving across to Cramlington / Blyth areas where they remained from about 1870. Thomas was my 6th Great Grandfather! If anyone can help me take this further back than the current 1730-ish I would be really interested, and grateful - and of course if you can link in to the tree anywhere too that would be even better! Of interest there are strong connections with the Proudlock family over a couple of generations in the late 1700s, early 1800s. Many thanks for any hints, tips, clues or leads that anyone may have. Bill Dawson

    3. Hello there, Bill: Do you have any connection to the following? MARGARET PROUDLOCK was born on 22 Dec, 1823 at Swinden, Rothbury, Northumberland to GEORGE (1790) and JANE PROUDLOCK. There are three other daughters, MARIA, DOROTHY and JANE. MARGARET’S grandfather GEORGE (1764) married DOROTHY nee PYLE. MARGARET’S great grandfather GEORGE PROUDLOCK was the son of GEORGE (1735) and JANE nee OLIVER. GEORGE (1735) was the son of GEORGE and ANN nee WINTRUP.
