My 3 x great grandfather, THOMAS BLACK, was born about 1789 in Blyth. He married Jane Corby on 10 Dec 1811 at Earsdon. Thomas was master mariner and part owner of the snow-rig Agenoria, built in Blyth in1806, until his death in 1839. A JAMES BLACK was variously part owner and master from 1806 to 1824. His share in the boat has passed to Margaret Black, his widow and executor, by 1836. A Mrs Margaret Black is listed at Waterloo, Blyth in an 1827 directory and in 1834 Pigot's Directory. A MARY BLACK of Waterloo is also listed in 1834 as a ship owner. I suspect that Margaret and James are the parents of Thomas but can find no marriage or baptism record.
