My ancestors were George Chicken who married Jane Cummins and had about 7 children born 1800 to 1816 in the Bishopwearmouth area. A son Joseph married Anne Douglas. Is there anybody else who is researching these family names. Thanks, Lynne
Geoff Matthews did research on the CHICKEN family. Although he passed away in 2007 there is some information on is web site. http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~chicken/ John On 15-Apr-10, at 10:38 PM, Kevin & Lynne Hyde wrote: > My ancestors were George Chicken who married Jane Cummins and had > about 7 children born 1800 to 1816 in the Bishopwearmouth area. Hi Lynne I'm not researching the Chicken family, but I've got a birth certificate for George Armstrong, born 11 September 1838 in Gilligate, Hexham, whose mother was Alice Armstrong, formerly Chicken. The father was John Armstrong, who was a skinner. Hexham is a bit of a way from Bishopwearmouth, but perhaps Alice nee Chicken was connected to your family. Good luck with your research.
