During the early 18th century, this Erington family were Catholic, 12 of whom were convicted of recusancy and forfeited land in consequence. See the papers of Annie Foster at the Northumberland Record Office and the History of Northumberland (Vol.IV) by John Crawford Hodgson. I also had an article published in the Spring 2001 issue of the N&DFHS Journal, which I can copy to you, which mainly relates to the Northumberland Lor(r)aines, but does mention the Erringtons I've cited.
