If not, where does one get them. Thanks & Happy New Year to you & all the list. Regards, Malcolm Campbell, London,Ontario,Canada Durham County Record Office sells them for Co Durham, for a fairly nominal fee. They are probably listed on the Record Office's site, which is accessible via the general Durham County Council site or via the Co Durham pages of GENUKI. You could enquire at Northumberland Record Office at Woodhorn to see whether they have any for their coujnty. Also the NDFHS may have something useful to sell. I do know that they have a publication originally by Original Indexes, called "Contiguous parishes", which lists, for each parish, which others are/were its neighbours. If your ancestors were from a wide range of places, all over the country, then you may be interested in a "parish atlas" published by the Institute of Genealogical and Heraldic Studies, which has a double page for each county. On one side is an 18th or early 19th century county map and on the other a parish map for that same county. I have heard of cases where over-enthusiastic researchers have simply photographed the relevant page from a library copy, but that, of course, would be a breach of the publisher's copyright and hance illegal, so not to be recommended here! No doubt they were comparing the costs - a few pence for a photocopy against many pounds to buy the whole hard-backed book. I also understand that those who have taken that dubious step also recommend keeping the first copy for reference and using many secondary copies of that, made probably on their printer/scanner at home, to keep track of the progress of searches by shading in each parish as one by one they are eliminated from the current search. However, we should really respect the Institute's copyright so I am not suggesting that you try such a connvenient, cheap and useful way of doing things! Geoff Nicholson
