Thanks for reminding me of the name. I went there many many times and loved the acts. I recall an act, a single man whose name I forget followed by, or known as, 'The Chocolate Coloured Coon' He sang 'On other Kelly's door step' amongst others and I recall him well. His title wouldn't be allowed today of course. Does anyone remember him and his name? What year was the theatre pulled down? Parsons, I worked back-stage in the evening's at the "Grand Theatre" in Byker, where many up and coming, and "fading", acts appeared, including, Kenneth More in repertory, Winifred Atwell playing her first date in England, Bobby Thompson, the Merry Magpies, Jack Mayho, The Tattler Girls etc. My old pal Alfie Page, (Padge) left the Grand to work at The Palace, so I may have seen Georgie there when "visiting", or possibly at the Empire, to where Padge had moved in the early '50's. It seemed that was the "grading" for variety theatres at that time, the Grand being in the 3rd. Division.! Theatre Royal was "high-brow" to us urchins. Hoping this posting may be of some historical interest. If not---soreeeeee Aalthibest Reuben
