John I was always told that the true definition of a Geordie is one who is born and bred on the banks of the Tyne which in this case will take in both North and South banks including Hebburn, South Shields as well as Wallsend and North Shields from which I and my wife come from but alas not our son who unfortunately is one of the true 'Soft Southerners' having been born in Reading! Not me unfortunately, My Mam and Dad lived in Newcastle in February 1945. My Mam told me the Newcastle hospitals were full of wounded soldiers so she popped over to Carlisle were her parents lived and had me there then brought me back to Newcastle. How sad is that? I have supported Newcastle United since I called at Mr Milburns house on Benton Park Road for his autograph when we won the cup in 1951. I was six but he only lived a couple of streets away. I got wrong off my dad when I got home but he let me off when I told him how nice Mr Milburn was and showed him the autographed photos. I know I am only about 97% Geordie and I keep an eye on Carlisles United's scores also.
