    3. Hi Could someone let me know how I can contact either the church in Lanchester or library there. I would like to see if my Eliza. Jane HANEY and/or husband James E. HANEY are buried there thanks. Also does anyone know if there are local papers in Lanchester that may have obituraries/death notices for family members. Much appreciated kind regards Dianna

Dianna It is extremely unlikely that the church or Lanchester Library will be able to help you because the old burial registers (up to 1928 I believe) have been transferred to Durham County Record Office in Durham City. This office also has microfilm copies of the registers up to 1987 and has a research service for those who cannot visit personally. http://nd.durham.gov.uk/recordoffice Brian -- Brian Pears (Gateshead, UK) http://www.bpears.org.uk/ Joint List Admin NORTHUMBRIA Genealogy Mailing List GENUKI Northumberland Maintainer

    1. [NMB] Gravestones in Corsenside
    2. Melvyn Hunter
    3. Dear Listers, I wonder if anyone would be able to take photos of a couple of gravestones in Corsenside churchyard? I took copies some years ago but these were stolen along with the computer they were on before I had the opportunity to archive them. The first is that of James Howat who died towards the end of the c20. The grave is between the church porch and the gateway into the churchyard. The second is that of James Douglas who died in 1884. The grave is to the south-east of the church. Alternatively, if anyone is able to transcribe either, that would be most helpful. My email is rikki@ruken39.wanadoo.co.uk Many thanks. Melvyn.

    3. Dear Listers, There is a cemetery marked on the OS map to the north west of Elsdon. Can anyone tell me when this cemetery was opened and for how long it was in use? TIA Melvyn.
