    2. Trudi Barr
    3. Hello again, I apologize for the format of my last message . . . it looked completely normal when I sent it. The GRO Death reference for Elizabeth was: Sept Quarter 1882, Gateshead District, Vol. 10a, Page 517 And for Robert: Sept Quarter 1874, Gateshead District, Vol. 10a, Page 580 (or Stockdon District, Vol. 10a, Page 43 or; Easington District, Vol. 10a, Page 315) Trudi Barr, British Columbia, Canada

    1. [NMB] HOGG and STOREY families.Tynemouth and Newcastle.
    2. Mark Kirby
    3. Dear Listers, This is a complete longshot - but I am hoping someone out there might be able to help? I have come across an old Army regimental photo in some family 'junk' but cannot see any obvious link to my family. To try to unearth a link but also out of interest I am trying to trace some of the soldiers named on the photo. The photo was taken of the '18 Medium Regiment of the Royal Artillery' in 1953. Possibly at the barrack HQ in Larkhill, Wiltshire, UK. In it there are a G. W. HOGG and an R. STOREY (WOII).. My research tells me that both the HOGG and STOREY surnames are from the Tynemouth/Newcastle areas? Does anyone know anything about these men or can help me trace their descendents? Many thanks Mark

    1. [NMB] Elizabeth Ann ARMSTRONG - death in 1882
    2. Trudi Barr
    3. Hello listers, I am looking for some help in determining a possible burial place (or notice) for this young girl (my g-grandfather's younger sister). She was born on the 9th of July 1877 at Winlaton, Durham and, at the date of the 1881 Census, was living with her family at "Athol Street, Whickham, Durham". I don't have her death certificate as yet, as I have only just started on researching collateral siblings, although I would like to know her cause of death. She died on the 16th of August 1882, when my g-grandfather was 22 years old and his younger brother James Armstrong, was 12. Their parents were William and Elenor Armstrong, both aged 43. The GRO details are: Deaths Sep 1882 Armstrong Elizabeth Ann 5 <javascript:golink(%22/cgi/districts.pl?r=68810803&d=bmd_1254881774%22)> Gateshead 10a <javascript:gopage(1882,3,1,'10a','517',1)> 517 The birth and death details I have, however, are taken from our family bible, but sadly nothing else is known of her. No photographs or obituaries or funeral/memorial cards etc. from a family who saved such items. She was 5 years, 1 month and 8 days old at the date of her death and I am sure that this death must have devastated her mother, whose youngest child and only girl she was; as well as coming shortly after the death of an infant son, Robert Armstrong, born the 21st of February 1874, in Durham and who died on the 23rd of August 1874, a mere 6 months and 3 days old. The GRO details are probably the first one, but could as well be the others: Deaths Sep 1874 Armstrong Robert 0 <javascript:golink(%22/cgi/districts.pl?r=53887304&d=bmd_1254881774%22)> Gateshead 10a <javascript:gopage(1874,3,1,'10a','580',1)> 580 Armstrong Robert 0 Stockton <javascript:golink(%22/cgi/districts.pl?r=53887306&d=bmd_1254881774%22)> 10a 43 <javascript:gopage(1874,3,1,'10a','43',1)> Armstrong Robert 0 Easington <javascript:golink(%22/cgi/districts.pl?r=53887307&d=bmd_1254881774%22)> 10a 315 <javascript:gopage(1874,3,1,'10a','315',1)> Any information or suggestions would be gratefully received. Many thanks, Trudi Barr, British Columbia, Canada

I haven't had any luck finding it in the NDFHS lists. It HAS been published by the NDFHS. I myself made a transcript, not from the original stones but from an undated list in Durham County Record Office (Modern Transcripts and Indexes - the "black volumes" - Vol 130), some 20 years or more ago. That was published, by permission of the Record Office, by the NDFHS, in a two-fiches set, covering Harton St Peter, Gateshead St John, Whitburn and Ebchester (part) churchyards. Note that in each case these lists cover churchyards only, NOT Municipal cemeteries. The NDFHS reference to the St John's list is TD 15. A surname index is included but there is no reference to either \winsper (etc) or Freeman on the 122 stones listed at Gateshead Fell St John. As far as I know, St John's churchyard is the only burial place on Gateshead Fell. Geoff Nicholson
