    3. Can anyone tell more more about one John and Sophia HOWES whom were living in Miller's Hill, Newcastle sometime in the late 1840's. Both John and Sophia came from Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, and were married there in 1842.  Their first child, Sophia was also born in Great Yarmouth.  And for the 1851 census, Sophia was the head of the house and living in Great Yarmouth with her three children, Sophia, Esther, and William. Sophia (daughter) was definitly born in Great Yarmouth according to the baptismal records there.   However, Esther did not appear in the Great Yarmouth Church Records although census records do indicate she was born there.   As for William, he was born in Newcastle 1849 according to his birth certificate, and John was a Policeman at the time.  The family were living at Miller's Hill. John and Sophia had a further four children after William.  These being Elizabeth  (b1852), Catherine  (b1854), Robert  (born 1857) and Bertha (born 1862).  Although all four were supposedly born in Great Yarmouth according to census records, but do not appear on Great Yarmouth church records either.  A check of the FreeBMD index for Great Yarmouth, Newcastle and London revealed only one possible entry for Robert. The next confirmed date and place for this family is 1871 in London when William married.  John and Sophia with five of the other children appear on the 1871 London Census. _____________________________________ Visit my website on http://www.chrismahoney.co.nz/

    3. Hello John, Thank you for all you have done and continue to do for Northumbria research. Even though I haven't posted into the group for a long time, I still read all the posts and never give up hope that someone else is researching my family too. I look forward to receiving an invite to join the new list in due course. The New Zealand genealogy group I am a member of has been migrating to groups.io for the past couple of days and members are posting test posts as it will not be "going live" so to speak until 2 March 2020. Personally I haven't noticed any difference as all my mail goes into their respective folders on arrival to my email client so I have never selected digest mode at Rootsweb. I did notice one subscriber ask about digest mode. Kind regards. Thanks, Rikki. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Charles Atkinson" <catkinson5@cogeco.ca> To: <northumbria@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, January 05, 2020 2:49 PM Subject: [NMB] Re: Delaval Family > Greetings Rikki > > I found your website most interesting and recalled the connection between > the Delaval family and the Vicars of Earsdon who ministered to the family > at Seaton Delaval. 2. Hi Ann, Thank you for your reply and your time taken to look for me. The Alnwick birth is a possibility but as you suggest, the names of their children don't tie in: They were: James 1813 Alnwick to 1891 Richmond Robert F 1815 Seahouses to 1885 South Shields (notable artist) Francis 1817 Rothbury Nathaniel Bates David 1820 North Rothbury to 1884 Richmond Jacob Ralph 1822 Rothbury to 1883 Richmond I also found a potential death for an Ann Watson in Q4 1852 ALNWICK UNION Vol 10B pg 177 but can't think why she would be there when they were both in Bells Court, N upon T in 1851.
