Hi! I am new to the list and thought I'd jump right in. The family history that has been passed down is as follows. In the early 1800s, LORD IRWIN from Armagh, who was protestant and a widower, had an only daughter, Harriet( my gggrandmother). She fell in love with Patrick MCCAFFREY, who was their hired hand and catholic. They ran off to Scotland to get married. Patrick and Harriet later emigrated to Canada. I have the family history confirmed once they reached Canada, about 1841. I would very much like to confirm this story. Any help would be wonderul.
