I came across these indexes in the LDS catalog. Protestant marriages were recorded by civil authorities in Ireland starting in 1845. I am hoping to get a lead on siblings of my immigrant who came to NYC about 1841, and perhaps his town of origin (I already know the county) It seems to me the index is just as good a way as the Griffith Valuation for helping to focus surname research. Has anyone else tried this? I have just ordered the first actual marriage record. Does anyone know what kind of information these marriage records had? Joan
