Hello fellow researchers, I have been a member of various list provided courtesy of Rootsweb. I am researching my g-g-grandfather Hugh Ramsey and my g-g-grandmother Jane Forbes. According to Hugh's naturalization papers, he was a native of Ireland. I know that he lived in Northern Delaware after 1862. I know that Jane Forbes had a brother Daniel Forbes who also lived in Northern Delaware. We also have in our possession a medallion, which we believe belonged to Jane, from Castlecaufield, County Tyrone, Ireland. I have been unable to find the ship Hugh came over on. According to gravestones, Hugh was born 11 March 1827 and Jane was born 4 March 1837. My uncle remembers stories told down the generations that Hugh came over with some brothers and settled in New Jersey about 10 years before Hugh came to Delaware. My mother believes it was said that they came into Philadelphia. We have letters from the golfer, "Porky" Oliver about being cousins. I have check the volumes of Famine Emigrants between 1845 to 1851. I have check Filby's passenger list, these have been updated yearly. Books on passengers into Philadelphia (and microfilm). I have hit the brick wall so much, we are on a first name basis. I am asking all research to help in my search! Any ideas, tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
