Hi I am researching my ancestry, and have information that my great grandfather emigrated to New Zealand on board the Ocean Mail in 1875. His county of origin is given as Down, and his occupation farm labourer. We have an estimated birth date for him of 1854/55 (from his known date of death ~ 6 September 1922 aged 68 years), however the record on the ship gives his age then as 22. It may be that he was born in Co Tyrone, however this is speculation. Andrew married Rose Anne Purdie (b 1860/61, died 3 April 1941 aged 80 years). There is no record of her having travelled with him on the same ship, so they may have married in NZ. He had at least one brother who is believed to have been a Presbyterian Minister. Any information on either of these people, or their Irish descendants would be appreciated.
