    1. [NIRGW] 1901 Irish Census Extracts
    2. 1901 Irish Census Extracts Well folks the bubble has burst at last! After many hours of uploading some more very long films the system wouldn't take it any more. I can't even get into the original page to take the new records off again, otherwise I could have created a separate page. I have had to delete the records you have already seen. I will start from scratch on the next batch of films. It will have to be in the original format as it takes too long to reformat them as before. I hope you all had time to view the previous records. Sorry about that but I did my best. I am still waiting to hear from Roots Web about making the records into a searchable database. I am still wading through my back log of messages and e-mails. I will reply to everybody A.S.A.P. Many thanks to all who have written to me and signed my guest book. Please feel free to use the message board on my site to post your own interests on. These are the records I have put on today: Aghaderg Parish District and sub-district Loughbrickland Annaclone (Rathfriland) District of Banbridge Annaclone Poor Law Union Banbridge District Electoral Division QUILLY Baleney Lower Iveagh Lower Half Parish Dromore West Down Belfast South Ballynafeigh Ormeau Ward Upper Belfast Shankill Smithfield Ward Upper Belfast Parish: Shankill My web site URL is: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~jeanmccarthy36 Kindest Regards. 3. Hello All, I am fairly new to the list and I am beginning to research my Northern Irish family roots. To be honest I dont know where to begin.. I have very little information except basic stuff about my grandparents.. So I am looking for things quite recent all the way back as far as I can go. Could someone please suggest a few good websites? Are there any that you can research for free or do they all have a membership fee? Please forgive me for all the questions, was just hoping to get some help on where to start as I am sure all of you have wonderful ideas... Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks so much. Looking forward to hearing from you all!!! Kathy

    1. [NIRGW] Fw: Creelman/McLeister family of Coleraine
    2. michaela stevens
    3. Hello Listers I am researching my CREELMAN ancestry and I've hit a brick wall! Sarah MCLAUGHLIN, my great-grandmother is believed to have had 2 children with John CREELMAN, in the 1880's, Robert(?May 1887) and Elizabeth. I can find no record of birth for these 2 children in Ireland, though there is a vague rumour that Robert was born in USA/Canada, possibly Philadelphia. Sarah went on to have 3 children with a John MCLEISTER - John(1892), Joseph(1894) and Samuel(1895), my grandfather. All were born in Coleraine, Co. L'derry. Sarah then had a further 2 children with John CREELMAN, in Coleraine - Sarah(1898) and James(1901). I can find no record of marriage in Ireland for Sarah MCLAUGHLIN to either John CREELMAN or John MCLEISTER, though, I guess, if Robert was born abroad then perhaps Sarah married abroad too. In any case, Sarah and John CREELMAN lived as man and wife and ALL 7 children took the CREELMAN name. The family home was in Brook Street, Coleraine. Sarah died in 1917, age abt. 53, and John died in 1926, age abt. 71. They were Presbyterian. Does any of this sound familiar, can you help? And what happened to John MCLEISTER? Michaela Stevens, Bedfordshire

    1. [NIRGW] 1901 Irish Census Extracts
    2. 1901 Irish Census Extracts I am hoping to be able to donate all my records to Roots Web who (if possible) will make a searchable database. That way you can all easily search it for your names of interest and I can update the database with the new records I am currently searching. I will keep you informed on the progress made as I am waiting to hear back from Roots Web. There is a formatting problem at the moment. Let us all keep our fingers crossed that this can be done for the good of the genealogical community. In the meantime I will try to continue putting films on my web site. Thank you again for all of you who have e-mailed me or signed my guest book. I am almost up to date with my e-mails. So if you are waiting to hear from me I will reply just as soon as I possibly can. Today I have added another five films to my web site on the Belfast area. 2. 1901 Irish Census Extracts Some of the films are very long, two or three films spliced onto each other. There are plenty more films to follow if Front Page 2000, my web site and my computer system as well as my brain will stand it. Front Page was getting very slow so I have installed another 128 MB of RAM which has speeded things up a little. So hopefully I might get a lot more films uploaded for you. I'll keep going as long as I can until something gives up. It won’t be me! Thank you so very much to everybody who has e-mailed me or signed my guest book with your very kind remarks and encouragement. It makes it all seem worthwhile. I will reply to everybody just as soon as I possibly can. I just hope that at least some of you might find something of interest to your own family names. I have today added five more films of the Belfast area to my web site at: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~jeanmccarthy36 Jean McCarthy nee Moore

    2. Carol
    3. Dear Listers, Just a quick note to let you know that Earthlink and Netcom are having serious problems with the nimda virus. Several earthlink users and subscribers of this list have bounced off due to their email being undeliverable (the mail ques but cannot be delivered). This problem is wide-spread and is happening to many RW lists - some seem to be more affected than others. Please note that this problem is with these ISP's and not the RW mail list servers. If you are an earthlink or netcom user please be aware that you may be automatically removed from this list due to this problem. If it does happen to you, please resub yourself or email me for assistance. Thank you! -- Best Wishes, Carol Hepburn Phoenix, AZ USA List Administrator: IrelandGenWeb-L, NorthernIrelandGenWeb-L, Greece-L, SomGen-L

    1. [NIRGW] 1901 IRISH CENSUS EXTRACTS
    2. 1901 IRISH CENSUS EXTRACTS Fingers crossed my web site seems to be working OK with 15 pages of my 1901 Irish census research published. Fifteen A4 pages amounts to almost 350 records. I will replace the fifteen pages once a week with the subsequent 15 pages commencing on Sunday 14th October. I have a lot of pages so I will continue to do this until I run out of records. However, my research is ongoing so I will continue with the above as new records are found. With the list owner’s consent I could post a message once a week reminding everybody when the new pages have been published on my web site. I am only a little old great-grandmother who tried to do something nice for the genealogy community. I am not a highly qualified technical computer GURU. So the above seems to be the ideal solution to the problem of exceeding my allocated data transfer space, given my limited expertise. The URL is: http://www.geocities.com/jeanmccarthy36/ Please note that my research to date has covered Belfast, Newtownards, Banbridge & District only. Not the rest of Ireland. Many thanks to all those who e-mailed me offering advice, and congratulations as well as those who kindly signed my guest book. I am still working through my backlog of e-mails. To anyone waiting to hear from me, I will be in touch just as soon as I possibly can. Kindest Regards. 2. 1901 IRISH CENSUS EXTRACTS I am very sorry for any inconvenience caused when trying access my website. This was due to the volume of data I had published that had exceeded my allocated data transfer space. I believe the problem has now been resolved since I removed half of the pages I had published on the Irish Census. Well at least nearly two hundred of you good folks seem to have got access. Thanks a lot for all your suggestions for alternative ideas for publishing them. I will publish 25 (A4) of the pages at the beginning of each month. This should give everybody sufficient time to peruse the census extracts. I had already tried publishing on Roots Web but alas they are not compatible with my ISP. (AOL) The pages wouldn’t load at all. As you can imagine I have been inundated with e-mails. I will reply to each one in turn just as soon as I can. Many thanks for your patience. Kindest Regards. 3. Just looked at your site Jean but found you have exceeded your space. One suggestion I have, is to open numerous free sites and post different pages to each of them i.e. http://www.angelfire.lycos.com gives up to 50Mb http://home.talkcity.com gives 25Mb http://www.dreamwater.com gives 50Mb http://www.freehomepages.com gives 50Mb to mention just a few. Best of luck I hope you sort something out. Though I've not seen it yet I'm sure it will be invaluable to many people. Bob in Brisbane. Oz.

    1. [NIRGW] 1901 IRISH CENSUS EXTRACTS
    2. 1901 IRISH CENSUS EXTRACTS Covering:  BELFAST, NEWTOWNARDS, BANBRIDGE & DISTRICT After taking advice on copyright laws, I would like to share my research results of the last three years with visitors to my web site. I hope my fellow researchers may find it of interest if not of value to their own research. The only problem I have come across is that apparently the 50 pages I have put on my site so far has exceeded my allocated data transfer space. So I may have to just put on so many pages at a time for say a month remove them and then put the next batch on. If anybody has some other suggestions I would be glad to hear them. I have been told that I can purchase more data transfer space but it is a bit too costly for a pensioner to consider. I have done my best to record the details as accurately as possible and as they were written in the original documents. There are a lot of names other than my names of interest. For example boarders, servants, in-laws and workhouse officials. (The inmates only have initials given) So it might be worth taking a look through the records. I am still searching the census and I will continue to input the work in progress. Kindest Regards.
