Hello, I am searching for information about Patrick Francis Dowling born 4/27/1837 in queens (laois) county Ireland and immigrated to the u.s. in 1851. His fathers name was Edward Dowling, and his mother was Sarah Whelan or Whalen Dowling born abt. 1815. I believe they are from the parrish of Aghaboe in Queens co. (now laois). Patricks brothers name is also Edward Dowling born about 1847 in same county and also immigrated in 1851 to u.s. He lived his whole life in his brothers home and never married. I have no evidence that Edward Dowling (the father) ever immigrated to the u.s., but sarah whalen dowling did show up living with her son, in a u.s. directory in 1866. Any information or recommendations on how to search for this family would be most appreciated. I have ordered micro films from the RLDS family history center, here in my home town in the u.s. I do know that they had at least one other sibling, but I have no other information in him/her. Thank you in advance for any advice or help. Sincerely James Dowling, (gr. Grandson of patrick) mizzou@mcmsys.com

Hi Del WOW That really is a remote possibility. My married name is KELLER and although I havent done any research on that family, I believe they have been in Pennsylvania since the 1700;s. The Forrest/Orr/ Hutchinson connection is that of my maternal grandfather, and the census ( 1850- PA) says they were born in Ireland. My youngest son is named Thomas however!! Thanks for the e-mail.. we all need hope that someday our mysteries will be solved. --some of mine have been solved that way. Have a happy holiday! Fran
Hi Jean, You were very kind to me when I asked about our relatives in Ireland. So I am happy to say, after receiving some papers, I found mention of a Moore in a will written in 1872. It is the will of John Cleland of Ballytrim, parish of Killyleagh. "I leave and bequeath to Jane Moore, daughter to Ann Jane Rodgers, the sum of five pounds Sterling." Other surnames in the will: Patterson, Cleland, Munce, Lawther, Weaver, Bingham We also have two letters passed down in the family from the year 1834. One written to Ireland, the other received from Ireland. No mention of Moore's in those, but many other families. 1911 Census for Belfast and County Down on my web site at: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~jeanmccarthy36 Last year I did a search of the 1911 census for a certain area in the Victoria Ward of Belfast. Typically, the address I wanted was missing from the film. However, it struck me that it might be of interest to some of you to see the extra information that is given in the 1911 census as opposed to the 1901 census. For example, it tells how long the people had been married. How many of their children were born alive and how many of the children were still living in 1911. I have put this one film for Victoria ward on my web site under the 1911 census button on the left hand side of the home page. A lot of people have asked me how do I get hold of these films. The films of both the 1901 and 1911 censuses can be ordered from your local LDS Family History Centre for you to search for your self. The long term loan fee is £3.80 for three months. The short term fee is £2.80 for one month. I hope this information might be of some help to those of you interested in searching these records. My new guest book is now up and running after my old guest book host went out of business. I am gradually replacing the messages you all kindly sent when you signed my old guest book. You will get a message of acknowledgement when your message is re-entered. Kindest Regards & Merry Christmas. Unfortunately I have no further details. I would also like the names of his siblings. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Hi Listers I'm a recent arrival in Ireland, from South Africa, and am researching my LONEY line which has been in Guernsey at least from the late 1700's to the last century. We must have started in Ireland at some stage - haven't found it yet! I have only been able to go as far back as Capt. WILLIAM PETER BARTHOLOMEW LONEY who lived and died in Guernsey in the early 1800's. I haven't been able to find his birth date or place - so would be over the moon if the name rings a bell with anybody. Many thanks! Kind regards Lynda Cookson Co.
