Hugh said to have been born in the Trillick area of County Tyrone married Catherine Maguire of Fermanagh. They had 6 children. My great grandfather James was born in the same area around 1834 and came to the New York City area around 1855. His sister Catherine married a Hugh McElroy and came to the US. His brother Charles died in the Mexican American War. Other siblings remained in Ireland but are unknown to me. Ring any bells? Peace, E Elizabeth V. Cardinal ecardinal0@home.com
Hi, I was hoping that someone on this list could point me in the right direction. I have been researching the origins of my gggr-mother, whose name I was told to be Mary McKenna, McCanna, McCann or McCannon. So many choices to pick from! She was born in November 02, 1830 in Northern Ireland. She emigrated to Philadelphia, PA or Delaware, USA sometime around 1850/51. Her first name was Mary or Maria. She married in Delaware to a Charles Reichel and moved to Newfoundland, PA. where they lived and raised 7 children. She supposedly came from Coleraine, Derry. Her husband, Charles Reichel, was a Moravian and their marriage is recorded in the Archives at the Moravian Seminary in Bethelem, PA, USA. There is a rumor that her father may have been named Thomas. She may have had an uncle who lived in England whose last name was Kane. She may have been married previously in Ireland and had several children who died. We are thinking that she may have been Moravian prior to leaving Ireland. I am planning a trip to Ireland, possibly in May or June of this year. I will go to Dublin and search the archives and then to N. Ireland. Does anyone know if the Moravian church in Ireland or England have an archives or a way to reseach members? Would there likely be people with the surnames listed above from Coleraine in the 19th century? I appreciate any help that can be provided. Sandy Lawson Sacramento, CA, USA
Emails have been sent to each entry on the Fianna Surname List. Hundreds of dead email addresses were found, and those entries will be permanently removed. Make sure your entry is safe! Check them at http://www.rootsweb.com/~fianna/surname/orphans1.html and http://www.rootsweb.com/~fianna/surname/orphans2.html Maybe you'll notice a friend's entry, please tell them to send in a correction :) We need the OLD address, (to make sure it's the right entry), the NEW address, obviously, and a list of the names for which there are entries. No NEW entries will be made from the corrections form. Please continue to use the submission form for new entries. Peace, chirho for the Fianna Webmaster Team

Doris Thankyou for your reply. I believe the name can and has been spelt both ways. Sorry though I have not further info on the family other that here in New Zealand. Do any of the names mean anything to your cousin? Dawn.
I am researching my "McCleery" family. my grand father Alexander was born in Raphoe, his brother David was born in Letterkenny, both places in C. Donegal. Their parents were William and Sarah (neeGiley) McCleery. Alexander came to New Zealand, probably through the US in the 1870's. David came aboard the 'Earl of Zetland' in 1775. I am fairly certain that there is family in the US and in Northern Ireland. Can anyone help. Regards, Dawn.
My relatives in Cecil County, MD, the Hendersons, came from the Raphoe area of Cty. Donegal and there are several McCleary families around there. My cousin married one. Is this a version of the McCleery name?
