We have first documentation of him in Lancaster Co. PA. USA in 1929 as married (Sophia Clemson) with one son, John, and settled on land he patented from William Penn family. Would appreciate any family tie-ins in Ireland and the location therein . Thanks in advance for your help to me on this matter. Paul "Dean" Sawyer

    1. [NIR-GW] wise use of this subject line
    2. Judy Hall
    3. Hi, everyone, Can I make a suggestion? It is a good idea to use your subject line wisely. It gives everyone an idea of what's in your message and people can choose to open it and read it if the topic is of interest to them. Many people who are on lots of lists just open only messages of interest to them. Yours may get missed if the subject of your message is not clearly displayed. I often use subjects like this: BROWN; INV, SCT abt1900 or SMITH; TYR, IRL>AUS 1913 or 1841 census lookup, please or where is Ballyshiel?. Hope this is of help. Regards Judy

    1. [NIR-GW] SUGGESTION FOR 'SUBJECT"
    2. For census lookups here in the US. some rather loose rules have been laid out, which, if followed, seem to eliminate reading many, many inquiries that are of no concern. ("census lookup" with nothing else is automatically deleted !!!!!) It has been suggested that we use the following format for lookup requests: (County)(year)(Surname) ---- on the PA list it would look like this: Berks/1866/Smith. On the N. Ireland list it might look like this: Tyrone/1850/Dougherty. County, townland, parish, etc., the year and the surname clarifies a great deal for me. I just don't have time to read all the ambiguous "subjects" --- if it's not spelled out, I delete --- plain and simple. And who knows what wonderful things I have missed out on with my itchy delete finger?? <g> Just a friendly suggestion, folks Dori - (in So. Calif) Beannachthai agus Siochain

    3. I have found adding "genealogy" to the name, shortens the list down a bit so that you don't get unrelated things in the search results.....if that might help someone. I usually use "Surname", "Place Name", "Genealogy" (No Ireland). Sometimes I search with "place name", "genealogy" only, sometimes adding the "Ireland" at the end gets some different results. Sometimes putting the first name in helps zero in on possibles that you might be looking for or finding that "lost or hard to find person". 3. Hi Jean, thanks for all the hard work you are doing. I would like to ask you a question that hopefully with your expertise you could answer. I am trying to locate a person in the 1901 census but have no address. They are probably in the area of Whiteabbey or Templepatrick. Would these two locations be included in the Belfast census or would they be on separate LDS files? Thank you, no rush to answer, whenever you get a moment. 2. 1901 Irish Census Extracts on my web site at: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~jeanmccarthy36 I have posted some more films on my web site. The latest films are for: NORTH WEST BELFAST, SHANKILL PARISH Continuing with CLIFTON WARD. Some of the new films are at the bottom of Census Two F. The rest is under Census Two G. I had to create a new file as Census Two F was getting too big to handle. I will update the 1901 Belfast Street Directory A.S.A.P. It has been brought to my attention that Web T.V. Users are unable to gain access to my web site. I have spent a week trying to amend my site to accommodate Web T.V. users. I have taken advice from Expert Web Site designers to no avail. I would have to scrap the entire site and start again. There is just not enough time to do this and continue with the ongoing research. Sincere apologies to all Web T.V. Users. I tried my best but it is just not possible for you to view web sites with frames. Kindest Regards.
