    2. RCDavison
    3. For the information of Janet and anyone else who may have an interest, Templemore is a Parish of Co. Londonderry. The 1851 Townlands Index shows it as being in the North West Liberties of Londonderry. It doesn't actually appear on the Ordnance Survey Discovery Series (1:50 000 map, Sheet 7) but may be on a street map of Londonderry - which I don't have! Yours aye Robert C Davison Hon. 3. Hello Cynthia, I don't actually know how your message reached me. I'm on a lot of lists. My John McCauley (spelling seems to vary) came to Australia from Ballinalack, County Westmeath in time to marry in 1857. I understand that his brother went to USA. I don't know much else yet. Good luck with your research. Best wishes, Ron Jones, Melbourne, Australia. -----Original Message----- From: Cynthia Freed-Morgan <[email protected]> To: [email protected] <[email protected]> Date: Friday, 14 May 1999 21:04 Subject: MacAulay, Shillady, Priestley, Linton >Good Morning! 3. " Mary Coll, married a James McNutt of the Waterside area of Derry towards the end of the last century" I received the above information by e-mail. Can anyone point me in a direction to research this couple? Or do you have any information on the Mc Nutt surname in the Derry, Donegal areas? Thanks Marita

    3. Good Morning! I joined this list a few days ago, after having a real breakthrough in locating new information about my great-grandparents who hailed from County Down. I wrote to the person who submitted the info to the FHL (snail mail) and still haven't heard anything back. I was "so" excited to see how many more family members (aunts & uncles) had come to the U.S. also. So far there's only been one message on this list that has reached me. Is this typical? I'm on a super-active Swedish list (my father's side), so am surprised there's not more activity on this list so far. I guess this letter, besides providing some surnames, is to make sure I'm still connected! Slan, Cindy in VA

    3. Charles Clark: Thank you for your 07 May 1999 reply to my request for information. Your charts on TORRENS and book on the Young family of Culdaff, on the Inishowen peninsula, Co. Donegal, certainly sound interesting. Is the book "Three Hundred Years in Inishowen" by Amy Young of recent vintage? Who is the publisher? How much information does Amy Young provide on the individuals in her book? Are members of families identified? My uncertainty regarding the TORRENS / TORRENCE names was that TORRENCE was the second given name of my grandfather and my brother and my nephew. I had assumed that because that name had been passed down through the generations that it was the surname of Alexander Young's second wife. And, though TORRENCE is in fact a variation of the TORRENS name, which I recently learned from the TORRENS website, a document obtained from another branch of our family supports your thought that TORRENS is probably correct. I've got a couple of chartfuls of TORRENS and a whole book full of YOUNG though I can't, from an admittedly slightly superficial look, find anything that connects so far. The book is "Three Hundred Years in Inishowen", by Amy Young, and is a family history of the family of Young of Culdaff, on the Inishowen peninsula, Co. Donegal. So the name you are searching for is probably Torrens Charlie

    1. Question
    2. Marita Gladson
    3. I have received information from Griffith's Evaluation. Can you answer this? There is a county designation, a parish designation, and a location designation. Which do I use to search for church records? For example James Mc Nutt County: Donegal Parish: Tullyfern Location: Glentidaly This what I understand it to be: Location: would be similar to a city or village Parish: would be a subdivision with in the larger county County: would be the larger division So would I look for the church in the Location entry i.e Glentidaly? I hope I am making myself clear. Thanks Marita

    2. Marita Gladson
    3. I just received several names from the Griffith's Valuation of Ireland CD. 1848-1854 Now I don't know where to go from here with the information. Any suggestions? For example I have James Mc Nutt County Donegal Parish Aughnish location Drumherrive James Mc Nutt County Donegal Parish Megagh location Umlagh James Mc Nutt County Donegal Parish Tullyfern location Glentidaly There are 3 pages of Mc Nutts listed which is great because it gives me plenty of options. I would guess the same person is listed again in following years. What suggestions does anyone have as to what my next step should be? thanks Marita
