    3. I have tried the http://www.postoffice-counters.co.uk/navbar_postcodes.htm site several times over the past few days but keep getting this message: "There is a temporary network error preventing the download of your file" I was just wondering if anyone else has encountered a similar problem with this site? I have Netscape Smart Download and don't know if the problem is with Netscape, although I haven't had any problems downloading anything else except on this site. Any comments would be appreciated. 1. From This Year Hence - George Tavender
    2. MARG PEEBLES
    3. My sister recently came across a reference from a book entitled From This Year Hence, written by a George Tavender. He referred to emigrants from Great Britain who landed in New York in the early 1800's to a rather cool reception; settled briefly in and around Johnstown, NY, and petitioned the British Consulate for advice. Apparently, the consulate suggested they investigate Canada, and several immigrants were dispatched to Canada to investigate. In 1819, 24 wagon loads of immigrants travelled by land to York County, where they settled. We have ancestors by the name of King who landed in New York, and subsequently settled in York County. Family letters refer to their buying a wagon and horse and preparing for a journey. Unfortunately, the excerpt from the book cited no sources for the historical information regarding this migration. We have ordered the book, but would love to hear from anyone who may have knowledge of such a migration. An interesting note is that this trip took place in the winter! Thank you for your time, Marg
