Chris, Just wanted to thank you for your kind offer of look ups (Griffiths, for example). Always great to know where to turn for such info. The list is lucky to have you and other such kind souls. With thanks to you and other kind fellow listers, Amy
Hi I have the Griffiths Valuation on CD and will do look-ups. BUT, I work full-time so have patience. I also have FTM volumes 1-12, SSDI, "Passenger & Immigration Lists" (CD #354) and "Marriage Index New York City" (CD# 239) by Family Tree Maker. The 1881 British Isles Census (not including Ireland, unfortunately) and the British Isles Vital Records Index by the LDS. Chris Duclos researching: CRAWFORD, LYTLE(LITTLE), LAIRD, TISDALL, CONVERY and others in Ireland.
I have just come into possesion of some letters written in the 1850's and 1860 from Newark New Jersey to Ireland. My great, great, great grandfather (John Kennedy) is referred to therein as coming from Reyian. I am guessing that ii is somewhere near Newry. Could someone please tell me where is might be located. Thanks Roger Timms, Port Perry, Ontario Canada.
Is there such a thing as a Belfast Directory published in the 1850-60 period? If so, where would I be able to find one to look at? Thanks, Joan

Can anyone tell me what the eight townlands in the Moyola Estate near Lough Neagh were, and what they are called today?
Would anyone be able to tell me how to obtain information regarding emigration from Co. Tyrone, particularly the Clogher area, during the famine years? My gggrandparents arrived in Providence RI USA IN 1850. Thanx. Tom Flynn [email protected]
Since it has been some time since I posted this information I thought I would try again to see if anyone relates to it. My gggrandparents JAMES MC VICKER and his wife ELLEN MC KENNA emigrated to Providence RI USA ca 1850 with two children, Patrick age 6 and Peter age 4. I suspect they were from Co. Tyrone as reference has been made that some MC VICKER ancestors were employed by a LORD MOUTRAY,working on his "castle" at FAVOUR ROYAL.I have learned that J. C. MOUTRAY, Esquire of FAVOUR ROYAL and Sir BUNBURY BART were the Proprietors of the town (village) of AUGHER, Parish of CLOGHER, Co. Tyrone. The MOUTRAYS of FAVOUR ROYAL were one of the largest landowners in CLOGHER VALLEY (I don't know when). FAVOUR ROYAL also appears in ERRIGAL TROUGH. ERRIGAL TROUGH spills over to Co. Monaghan. MC KENNA seems to be a prevalent name in Co. Monaghan so it could be that JAMES MC VICKER was from Co.Tyrone and his bride ELLEN MC KENNA from Co. Monaghan. All of this information is loosely woven. I am looking for a key to pull it all together. Thank for listening! Tom Flynn [email protected]
If there is anyone available to do Griffith's look ups, I'm looking for Busby's in Co Antrim, particularly Carnmoney. I know there are about 8 families during that time, just need more info. One of them is Alexander (b. circa 1790). Thanks! Chris Busby Austin, Texas

Hello all I'm researching my family lines as above. I have a lot of information to share with anyone else interested in these families. I would also love to hear anything about the origin of these names. I'm leaving Melbourne, Australia and will have to unsubscribe from the List until late October 1999 when I settle down in a new part of the world. I will be travelling until then. However, I'd love to hear from anybody by private e-mail. I'll access these, and reply, from libraries during my travels. My grateful thanks to the Listowner and all the people with whom I've had contact. In fact, to everyone (except the one person who was on some Lists and who caused problems for so many of us). Best wishes, Ron Jones [email protected]
Would dearly love some help here! My g.g.g.grandfather James Gibson was born at the above place on Dec. 1st in 1773. I would love someone to pin point this place for me, so that I can begin to try and locate churches etc that might hold some clues. Is this near Bawnboy? Are there any maps online which would show this area in detail? Would anyone who has access to a phone directory for this area be able to tell me if there are any Gibson families listed in the area? I am most grateful for any help given. All best wishes. Lyn Hotchin >From far Western outback Queensland, Australia. [email protected]
Greetings: Would anyone out there know what the 4 digit numbers in the LDS FamilySearch site are and how they are used? example: Names are listed, then IGI, then sex, birth: date Killyleagh, 0539, Down, Ireland. What is that 0539? How can I reference it or use it to find more information? Thanks Mike

I am looking for relatives and family connections to John and Jane McCartney. They emigrated to Ohio in the United States about 1838-1839 with their three children Johnston(Johnson), Esther(Hester), and Rebecca from County Fermanagh. Esther is listed on the Mercer County, Pennsylvania census as having been born in Scotland. I would appreciate any help or information you might have. Thank you, R. A. McCartney
Hi List. Don't know if anyone will be able to help me. I am very much stuck with an ancestor. He was Patrick COSTELLO bn about 1822. The only information I have been able to piece together from shipping lists and death certificate is that his mother may have been Jane MAXWELL father unknown farmer. (from death certificate) and that his native place was Leitrim. (from shipping and death). Any suggestions on where to look for more info greatly appreciated. Jacqui Central Victoria, Australia. Hi, I was told by a family member that my gggrandfather arrived in Australia from Northern Ireland with a dexter rocking chair, usually the last piece made by an apprentice. He was born in Camus Co Tyrone and married in Co Armagh. Can anyone give me further information about this chair and its significance. Thanks, Judy Hall.
