I sent this list out yesterday, but it disappeared into LALA land, with no rejections, no error messages, nor any delivery that I can see. I am trying again with just a partial list. If it looks to be useful to you, contact me, and I will send the other parts of the list individually. For those researching Kennedy's, here is a partial list. Marriage between Sarah GIBSON and Charles MORTON possibly at Lislooney Presbyterian Church, Co. Armagh in 1832. They are said to have resided at Cormeen, Killylea, Co Armagh. I am geographically isolated, so would I write to the above church for details? Would the church records go back to this year? Does anyone know the name of the present minister there ? I am very grateful for any help given. All best wishes. Lyn Hotchin [email protected]

Hi list, would sks do a look up on BDM of PAISLEY JOHN BLACKSTOCK or any connections or any relevant info as I have hit a brickwall on this family line , from Vicki Davey on a cold and wet Western Australian day.
I am researching the CARNEAL/CARNAL and other variations. The information I have so far says that Patrick CARNEAL/CARNAL (?) was born in Ireland in 1756, was married in VA in 1777 and died in VA in 1835. I have found a townland in Antrim Co. called Carneal but have been unable to find any other information about it. My direct ancestor is my great-grandfather Benjamin Walker CARNAL born May 3, 1882 in Tama, IA. He was the son of Archibald T. CARNAL, born August 23, 1836 in Caroline Co., VA, died December 27, 1889 in Tama, IA. He married Catherine A. HALL. One of Benjamin's brothers (Benjamin was the ninth child) was Nate CARNAL. Nate was Tama County supervisor. His son Edwin was Mayor of Tama. I have no idea where the family was between Virginia and Iowa. The story is that they were plantation owner in Virginia and fled during the Civil War. I would love to share information. Ardyth Long
Could someone tell me something about Mount Alexander? Hugh Montgomery was appointed Earl of Mount Alexander in 1703. I would appreciate any information. Thanks, Linda
This has been posted to another list, so for those have seen it, my apologies. Hi Doreen and all, Have you tried using the Rootsweb Archives? http://searches.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/listsearch.pl It is a great way to track down postings that you have "lost" as well as checking to see if there has been mentions of names of people / locations of interest. I am just beginning to search for my ancestors in Ireland. I have found both of the names I seek in Omagh E. Parish in Co. Tyrone. (In Griffiths.) They are listed as Methodist in Canadian Census so I am assuming that they were Methodist in Ireland. I realize that this may not be true but it is a place to begin. Does anyone know the names and/or addresses of the two churches? I am researching Margaret FORSYTHE & several McIlmurrays who came to Canada in about 1840. Maurianne

In a message dated 14/08/99 03:29:52 GMT, you write: << Another question on streets in Belfast (my map is very basic) Can anyone tell me where Fisherwick Place is? Thanks, Joan >> In the city centre. It's a continuation of Gt Victoria Street where you find the Crown Pub, the Europa Hotel and a railway and bus station. [Sandy Row is parallel to Gt. Victoria St. (more or less), one block behind it.] Next to the Europa Hotel is the Grand Opera House, and next to that is Jury's Hotel on Fisherwick Place. Opposite Jury's is the Presbyterian Historical Society. David McIlveen-Wright
Greetings All: It's been a while since I posted my searches and projects, so here goes: 1. I am trying to make a list of Batch numbers for Northern Ireland, starting with County Down. I would appreciate it if anyone with batch numbers would send them to me for my list. When I get enough, I will post the list for all. 2. I would like to know if there are any Kennedys in the area of Killyleagh, DownPatrick, Cluntagh, Tullyvery, Comber and areas in between, that would be interested in communicating with me and possibly helping me find relatives. 3. My search interests are: David Kennedy, born approximately 1796 and died Nov 4, 1857 Killyleagh. married Sarah (Mary) BROWN, was born approximately 1811 and died June 3, 1871 Killyleagh. They had nine children that I know of. David Kennedy was born approximately 1834. in Killyleagh, County Down. Andrew (my ancestor) born Sept 26, 1838 Married Sarah ORR June 10 1856. He lived in Tullyvery at the time and she lived in Killyleagh. They came to U.S.A . She died approximately 1865-67. He later returned to Ireland and married a Mary M CAVE. Around 1866-7. Robert Kennedy was born approximately 1840 in Killyleagh, County Down. My ancestor (Andrew) and his brothers, David and Robert, all came to the United States. Other brothers and sisters were: William Sarah Eliza John Charles Hugh. I would really like to communicate and connect up with my family and would appreciate hearing from them . I can be reached via email at [email protected] Sincerely Mike Kennedy Dayton Ohio
Another question on streets in Belfast (my map is very basic) Can anyone tell me where Fisherwick Place is? Thanks, Joan
Thanks to all who told me that Tea Lane is now at the Folk Museum. When looking up ancestral homes, one always hopes the building is still there. In this case, it is even better than that, it will still be much like the period when my ancestor was there ca. 1860. I can't wait to go see it. Jioan

In a message dated 12/08/99 18:52:35 GMT, you write: << I had ancestors residing at Tea Lane, Belfast. Can anyone tell me where in Belfast this street is if it still exists? Thanks, Joan >> Tea Lane has been lifted out of Belfast and rebuilt at the Ulster Folk and Transport Museum at Cultra (on the main A2 road, or by train to Bangor). This is a great place to visit anyway, as there are many other buildings from plantation times onward on the site. You can get a real insight into how the old folk lived. Tea Lane is a great example of the "2 up, 2 down" dwelling that was built in Belfast to house the shipyard or mill workers. I drove past the Folk Museum this morning. At the moment there's a "Rare Breeds" show taking place there. You can see the old-fashioned varieties of pigs, sheep, poultry, etc. that aren't really suited to modern agri-business. I will be going to Belfast in a few weeks to carry on some research at PRONI as well as sightsee. I will be arriving at the SeaCat Terminal at Donegal Quay in the AM and would like to find a locker or some safe place to check my luggage while I visit the downtown . (The place I am staying is a bit out of town and I can't check in til late afternoon) Any suggestions? Joan
