Thanks Joey for the info on Langford Lodge during WWll. I like your email address! Now we need to know the history of the "Langford" part of the name & what the area was in the l7 & l800's. Did a family by the name of Langford own it & was it an estate? Is there an email address for an Antrim historical society? Thanks for any further info. Beth Canada

Hi! We are trying to find out who owned the property in the l7 & l800's, where the Aldergrove Airport is now. Is anyone up on the history of the area? Also, what is Langford Lodge near this area? A town? An estate? Why is it called Langford? We are trying to verify family stories. Thanks for any info. Beth Canada

What many people do not realize is that the Irish economy was a shambles more than twenty years earlier, and that both landlords and tenants in Ireland were very concerned. http://globalgenealogy.com/gaz38.htm ENGLISH & WELSH ROOTS This issue of English and Welsh Roots welcomes guest author Michael Foster. Since publishing his ground breaking work "e Comedy of Errors"e or The Marriage Records of England and Wales, Michael has continued his study of the marriage indexes. In this article, Michael offers new examples and results that extend his published findings. This article and Michael's book should be read by everyone who has ever used the central indexes of births, marriages and deaths and those who have yet to use them. http://globalgenealogy.com/gaz38.htm NOS RACINE FRANCAISE (Our French Roots) Many accomplishments credited to King Arthur of England were either borrowed from the pre-existing habits of the tribes of Gaul or did not happen until centuries after his lifetime. Although a real King Arthur is believed to have lived in the British Isles and died in 537 AD, not many documents or histories were written at the time and none that proved he had knights, a round table or even an unfaithful wife named Guinevere. http://globalgenealogy.com/gaz38.htm ***** If you would like a personal email notification when new issues of The Global Gazette are posted, you can "subscribe" to The Global Gazette subscriber list, by sending an email to [email protected] and type "Subscribe- Global Gazette" in the subject line (without the ""). The 1631 muster roll of the County of London Derry has a number of men serving under Sir Thomas Phillips, who held quite a bit of property in two areas that were about 25 miles apart in Co. Derry in Ulster and which included many townlands. A possible ancestor, Patrick ffletcher, apears under the category "sword and snaphances" on this list, found in the New Enmgland Historic Genealogical Register of Oct.1958. Does anyone have access to any information that yields the townland in Co. Derry where Patrick ffletcher lived, or know where I can find any records that might have this info? Please email [email protected] Many thanks
My ancestor John Raradin immigrated to America about 1750. The family appears to have been Protestant at the time. Is Raradin, and its variant spellings, a Northern Irish name? Is he more likely to have come from Southern Ireland? CLRobinson
Hello everyone, I am searching for information about John and Roseann McGlinchey of Castlederg, County Tyrone in Northern Ireland, I know they are both buried in a church cemetery in Castlederg, but I dont know the name of the Catholic church. Does anyone know of a CD that would hold any of John O'Donovans work? Day Books? Thanks Nancy
Hi I dont remember where I came across this, thought it about summed it up. Men smile at childhoods play no more, Music and song, their day is o'er; At wine, at Mass the kingdoms heirs Are seen no more; changed hearts are theirs. No praise in builded song expressed They hear, no tales before they rest; None care for books and none take glee To hear the long-traced pedigree. The packs are silent, there's no sound Of the old strain on Bregian ground. A foreign flood holds all the shore, And the great wolf-dog barks no more. Woe to the Gael in this sore plight! Henceforth they shall not know delight. No tidings now their woe relieves, Too close the gnawing sorrow cleaves. anonymous 17th century Irish poet
Looking for the David KERR (CARR/KARR), who married Sara(h) DOVELIN (DEVELIN, DEVLIN) around 1800. They resided in Co. Derry. Two known children were Arthur Jos. (or Jas.) KERR and Margaret KERR. Both Arthur and Margaret left Northern Ireland and married in St. Francois du Lac, Quebec, Canada (Arthur in 1823, Margaret in 1827). Two of the witnesses at Arthur's marriage were Richard and William MEAHER (MAHER). Rachel Carr
